In 1994 Sheikha Najla Mohamed Al Qassimi attained her Bachelor Degree in Political Science from the United Arab Emirates University.  In 1995 she commenced on her professional journey working for HSBC Bank Middle East Limited in the capacity of Credit Facilities Officer, a position she held for two years and then as a Career Advisor at the Higher Colleges of Technology where she worked for one year.
 
In 1999 she moved on to work as a researcher at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies wherein she was responsible for rapid response to decision maker questions on political and strategic issues.
The year 2002 she commenced work with the United Arab Emirates Ministry for Foreign Affairs as a USA Desk Officer.  A year later, in 2003, she was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Undersecretary Office at the Ministry.  In 2004 she was transferred to the United Arab Emirates Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, covering in her work the Human Rights and humanitarian issues.
 
In 2008 she became one of the two first women in the country's history to be appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and presented her Credentials to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.  In 2010 she was appointed as  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to both the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Denmark successively.  
Sheikha Najla serves on the Board of Directors for the Women for Sustainable Growth (WSG) and also on the Board of Directors for the Women In International Security, Sweden (WIIS, Sweden).
