Legalisation

General Information

  • All documents (photocopies including academic qualifications) presented to the Embassy’s Consulate Section for legalization must first be notarized by a Notary Public/Commissioner of Oath or Lawyer. They may charge a small fee.
  • Mail/drop-off your document, to Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada, Attn: JLAC Section for authentication.

Important: Please have the documents return to you, not to the Embassy. This helps avoid the loss of documents during transit, and confirms that the Department of Foreign Affairs processed your documents.

  •  Send or bring the authenticated documents to the Embassy for final authentication.
  • The Embassy ONLY accepts money order, certified cheque or bank draft issued in Canada, made payable to: UAE EMBASSY-OTTAWA

    THE EMBASSY DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY FORM OF PAYMENT ISSUED OUTSIDE CANADA.

  • A prepaid return envelope is required. (Canada Post -express post envelope)
  • Original documents with DFATD stamp can be mailed directly to the Embassy along with the fee and prepaid return envelope.

Note: If you’re using a courier, COMPUTER GENERATED WAYBILL is required.

The Embassy is not responsible for any lost or delay of any document while in transit going back to the return address provided.

  • Same day Service – Submit your document between 9:30AM-12:00PM

                Pick - up between 2:00PM - 3:00 PM

  • Documents issued from the United Arab Emirates with UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) stamp can be legalize/authenticate at the UAE Embassy in Ottawa.  

NOTE:  Any INCOMPLETE documents submitted for legalization to the Embassy will be retained for a maximum of two months upon receipt.  If requirements are not completed within the proposed time, documents will be disposed of safely and confidentially. If prepaid return envelope is provided, the embassy will return your document.

Money orders, certified cheques or drafts issued to the Embassy are non-refundable.

NOTE: Degrees or other academic documents issued outside Canada can be attested at the United Arab Emirates Embassy in the country of issue (or nearest United Arab Emirates Embassy, if not available in issuing country).
